- A jar of AHA (American Health Assocation) Spice Mix. Show someone you care enough to help them reduce their sodium and add tons of flavour to their food (especially beef dishes). I use Jane Brody's recipe but I confess I've never added the mace so don't worry if you don't have any on hand.
- Multigrain Pancake Mix. Healthy and like a warm hug on a cold morning. Again, I like Jane Brody's but there are tons of recipes on the web to choose from.
- Spiced Coffee. Combine some ground coffee or instant coffee granules with any (or any combination of) the following: cinnamon, pumpkin spice mix, ground cardamon, nutmeg, ground vanilla bean, ground cocoa
- Spiced Cocoa. Combine any package of instant hot chocolate with any of the spices listed above. Include some mini marshmallows if you have time.
- A meal, frozen, labelled and in a container that makes it easy to reheat.
- Some kind of quick-bread or muffins. Zucchini, banana, apple, blueberry, sweet potato, carrot, bran, whatever.
- Homemade granola in an air tight container. Again, tons of recipes on the web and super YUM!
- A recipe collection. Type up and print out a dozen of you favourite recipes and bind with a nice ribbon.
- A loaf of Fresh Bread. Best given when still warm if possible. With bread machines this isn't a difficult one at all.
- And if all else fails... cookies. They're always a favourite!

So here are some ideas of inexpensive gifts that are truly worth giving this holiday season. Hopefully you have most of the stuff you need to make them already on hand. If not, it should be relatively inexpensive to locate them.

:) Cookies are my thing! I had a bread machine, but never used it so I gave it away. I would like to try making some bread though, the old fashioned way. ;)
I always enjoyed a gift like the ones you suggested. I have chai tea on my list.
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Sorry I've been away from reading blogs. Sometimes it's so hard to keep up. If you add the new email subscription link to your sidebar that blogger now offers, then everytime you write an entry, it will go directly to my inbox. Have a good week!
Loving this post! I did some cost effective baking myself and sent cookies off to my in-laws, but I kept looking for a healthier alternative! The spices will have to be for next year! :)
