You see this love story is about me and my grocery list.
I love lists. I love making them, I love following them, I love love LOVE scratching things off the list. Lists are lovely and make me feel happy and in control. Oh lists... *happy sigh*
And this is how I make my grocery lists. I have a notebook and a bunch of favourite cookbooks (I pick a different magazine each week and obviously Jane Brody's Good Food Gourmet has been with me for quite some time). Sarah decorated the outside so my apologies to the grammar police.
Now I used to have a steno notebook - you know the kind they use for shorthand? -- and those are even better because they're more compact and it's easier to divide your list into sections with that handy little red line down the middle... but I bought a 5 pack of these for when the girls went back to school so I'll use the bigger size until this one's done.
So anyhow.. I take my notebook and my cookbooks and my two pens and on the right hand page I meal plan (one colour for lunches, one colour for suppers) and on the left hand side I write down what I need and make my grocery list.
Then the whole thing comes with me to the grocery store and if I'm with the girls they get to try to read off and check off the list and if not well then it's ME baby! and during the week I refer back to my notebook to know what I have to make and what prep work needs to be done (like if I have to defrost something).
And that's how I meal plan.
uhm yeah.. the girls might be (just might mind you) trying to convince me they need pizza.

I love this idea. It's better than me writing my list on whatever envelope has enough room on it.
You've inspired me to get my own and start really planning hard.
Thanks!
I love my book. I even write down my weekly chores sometimes. I'm less good at doing that tho. Something to work on!
